Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Review
Agent Jensen – The Augmented hero is back
In Deus Ex: Mankind Divided you play as Adam Jensen who spends most of his time primarily in Prague on this installment of the Deus Ex Series. You will also get to visit iconic landmarks in Dubai, London and other areas of the Czech Republic
Mankind Divided is a futurised realistic version of Prague which is full of compelling side quests which interlink multiple stories to other side quests which are just as fun and rewarding as the main missions in Deus Ex.
The story campaign was perhaps a little too short as there is only approximately 17 missions to complete and even playing on the hardest difficulty and taking the stealth approach, no mission really got us stuck for hours on end wondering what to do next. With that being said, the general gameplay worked a treat, the mechanics are beautifully set so you can jump from cover to cover with no problem in order to plan your stealthy takedown on the enemies.
If you are more a guns blazing kinda person then this game will also please you, the weapons have multiple attachments you can find to attach to your favourites assault rifle, pistol and SMG’s, whether it be a silencer or some EMP bullets to take down electronic foes.
You are rewarded when completing quests and performing stealthy takedowns with XP, the XP allows you to upgrade your perks and skills using Praxis packs.
Graphics & Sound
One of the very first things we noticed with this game was the amazing graphics on the very first level in Dubai. See our screenshot below and we’ll let you be the judge of that.
Sounds also play a valuable role in Deus Ex, especially if you are planning the quiet route. The clever audio in the game allows you to hear AI’s conversations and their proximity of how close they are. This helps to perform a throat knockout punch from behind a wall (Trust us, we’ve tried many times)
Once you have completed the game, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s worth going all through it again with “New Game+” This starts the game from the very beginning again but you have all your current upgrades and skills you have unlocked in your first play through. Your weapons also remain with you as well.
There are many ways to play through the game, with some options leading you to a different tailored story because of the choices you have made in and around the game.
We didn’t manage to collect all the collectibles in our first play through, so if you are a completionist then a 2nd play through is very much worth a go.
Clever, intelligent, rewarding, fun and most importantly strong. Deus Ex is a game that has delivered on many components and like it’s predecessor it has come out guns blazing again and scores a mighty positive review from us.
